With Windows 7 operating system and up, you can use Voice to dictate patient notes. Once the Voice module is installed, log into Eaglesoft. Verify the Logon to Eaglesoft Voice box is checked. The next options may vary depending on if speech recognition has been previously accessed. Upon logging into Eaglesoft, a box will appear for Voice Profile.
Click New Profile. After clicking New Profile, you will have this screen pop up (or if speech recognition is set to 'Run at Startup' and has not been previously set up, once you install Voice and log into Eaglesoft, you will get this window on top of the Voice Profile box) Click Next.
Choose Headset Microphone and click Next. Click Next. The recommended headsets for use with Eaglesoft Voice Module are the Andrea Anti-Noise and the Logitech Extreme Headset. Repeat the sentence and adjust volume accordingly; once complete, click Next. Click Finish.
Make a selection and click Next; this screen will have no effect on Eaglesoft Voice Module. Select Use voice activation mode to avoid extra clicking, and click Next. Click the View Reference Sheet button. Once you have finished with the commands list, click Next. Select Common Speech Recognition commands.
Once expanded, click on the printer icon at the top of the screen. Verify the box is checked to Run Speech Recognition at startup and click Next. It is recommended to take the interactive tutorial to familiarize yourself with the Windows Speech Recognition functions and commands. This will help use Voice inside Eaglesoft. Click Start Tutorial to begin.Note: If you don't get the Set up Speech Recognition window when logging into Eaglesoft, go to Start All Programs Control Panel Speech Recognition. You can select a specific category such as Perio, Chart, PSR or Imaging, or leave it on Global. There is a checkbox to Train Category and a Train button, however, with Windows 7 operating system and higher having Speech Recognition, there is no need to use these.

If the word you want does not appear on this list, say the word or use the command 'SPELL IT'.
Say OK to accept the new word.Use the command d 'SPELL IT' wh en the word doesn't appear in the alternative panel or is an unusual word like a name or a place. In the Spelling panel, slowly spell out the word.
If Voice is having trouble understanding, say 'B as in BOY' or 'M as in MOUSE' to specify. Say OK to accept the spelled word. Chart Perio by using the default area of Pocket Depth or designating the desired area (e.g. Gingival Margin) and speaking the numbers in quick succession without pausing. Pausing between numbers causes the Voice engine to ask for more specific details.

The commands for Voice vary, depending on what area of the program you are in.NOTE: If any changes are made to Speech Recognition settings, be sure to log out of Eaglesoft and back in.What headset is being used? I t is very important that Voice users do not use each other's login to Eaglesoft. The Voice Recognition Profiles are associated with the Eaglesoft login. If the user is doing a Perio exam under someone else's Eaglesoft account, then they need to make sure to change the voice profile through the Voice Command Window to use their voice profile before using voice recognition, it is best to log out of Eaglesoft and in as the correct Eaglesoft user. The speech recognition engine is adaptive, which means it is constantly learning to recognize better. So, if more than one person uses the same voice recognition profile a lot of times, the profile will become so muddled that no one can use it.Does the user's speech profile still exist on this machine? To check, click on Start Control Panel Speech Recognition.
The profiles should be listed under Advanced speech options along the left side. If one for this user does not exist, click New to create.Was the microphone configured while talking in your normal voice?
Your microphone volume may be set too high. Go to Start Control Panel Speech Recognition, and select Set up microphone.
Step through the windows and read the selected phrases in a normal, clear voice. Doing this should automatically adjust your microphone volume to an appropriate level.Is the Voice Speed set correctly? Adjust voice speed in Control Panel Speech Recognition Text to Speech. It should be set to Normal.Does the phrase being used need something additional?

Erase profile and try again. Other causes could be headset, sound card or driver.The headset is unplugged, but Voice recognition is responding? The computer may have an integrated microphone. You may need to specify the audio input in Control Panel Speech Recognition Audio Devices.How can I tell if there is an issue with the computer's sound card?. Check to see if sounds can be heard outside of Eaglesoft. One way to test outside of the Voice module is to go to Start Control Panel Sounds.
Be sure the speakers are connected and turned on. Click on the Sounds tab; select one of the sounds listed under Program Events (e.g. Asterisk) and click Test to play the sound.
