I found an unbuilt Heathkit GR-2000 Kit, I remember these from when I was like 14-15 yrs old, it is a complete Kit I am about 1/8 into the Build,I already assembled the most of the Sub Chassis and Convergence over the weekend. And mounted all the Transformers on the Main Chassis.
HEATHKIT ID 1290 INDOOR-OUTDOOR WEATHER STATION!This is a pretty neat outfit. The weather vane and wind thingy go outside, and is wired into the house and connected to the wiring on the back of the case that houses the four 'gauges'. You will need to furnish a nine (or ten, t's connecting screw on the back with no wire connected but it may require one), conductor cable the length needed to run from the outdoor unit indoors to the back of the gauges.The wires on the unit are all color-coded, and t's a section of wire still on the outdoor unit with color-coded wires so hook up should not be a problem.The unit was sold to me as working, but I have no way to verify that fact.
I will guarantee the unit 'as advertised' but to its effeciency and workability I cannot guarantee anything. One wire hooked up wrong could burn something out and I can't be held responsible for something like that. T are some electronics inside the gauge housing.The manual has both the building instructions as well as operating instructions. It appears to be complete, but t is some writing on the cover and inside w the builder 'checked off' each step as he went along. If memory serves, I did buy this at an estate sale, and the wife of the person who built it told me it had worked fine.She was moving into an apartment and wouldn't have any need for the unit.T does appear to be a repair on one of the wind 'cups' w it's been glued or epoxied to the 'stem' that holds the cup. It appears though, to be holding ok.Dimensions: The outdoor portion is 30 Inches long.
The weather 'vane' is 12 inches long. The gauge unit is 19 1/2' high, 7 inches wide. From top to bottom the gauges are: Barometer, Wind Direction, Wind Speed and Temp, both indoor and outdoor.
